So, once upon a time, something like a year and a half ago, myself and my two good friends were watching the second season of Kaleido Star. They introduced a character named Leon, who shared a voice actor with Cloud Strife of FFVII / KH fame, and had long silver hair. A wonderful, cracktastic crossover idea was born. And now, it's finally a fic.

I'm looking for a new series to watch. Nothing that came out this fall really seemed amazing, I'm slowly making my way through One Piece, and I'm desperately waiting on xxxHolic season 2... but I want something to watch in the mean time that isn't 200+ episodes long. (Read: Suggest Naruto and I will hurt you.)
But ummmm... any ideas, anyone?

All right, so here's the thing. I stopped reading FMA fiction nearly a year ago because all of it (less that written by my friends' list) was pretty bad. Actually, make that really bad. It was bad. So anyway, last night I was bored. And in clicking around through my favourite authors' favourite stories lists on FFN, I discovered an FMA story that I hadn't read yet.
And it's brilliant.
Seriously, like, absolutely amazing not sure what more I could possibly want in the story that isn't already there kind of brilliant.
So I thought I'd share. ^_^

Since Lisa's drawing for me, I figured I might. ^_^ Besides, drabbles will make a nice break for me from working on Dodge Roll, which is shaping up to be the longest one-shot I've ever written in my life. So I'm working on Kaleido Star fic again. Or, to put it more accurately, I'm working on Kaleido Star x Kingdom Hearts fic. Because there needs to be Sora + Sora at some point, and because I promised Lulie-nee about a million and a half years ago that I'd do it, and I want my promised fics done.
One of the most interesting things for me is trying to create new acts for members of Kaleido Stage to do. I feel like it's nigh on impossible to top the Angel's Act, so I'm not even going to try - but I do want something that's beautiful and that would be memorable. I'm actually rather happy right now because I finally figured out what show they're going to be doing. XDD Took me long enough, right? Seriously though, the moves that you can come up with - - Kaleido Star is extremely versatile because the moves used on stage come from a variety of areas. There's tightrope, trapeze, trampolines, rope, ice skating, roller blading, swimming, sword fighting, motorcycle riding, tumbling, dancing - and that's all without even going into the different varieties of each, like the rotating trapeze bars. It's just massively fascinating.
Anyway, I've got the maneuver. Now I just have to write it in a way that's comprehensible. 'Cause, you know, that's supposed to be the easy part. XDD

02:28 am - NANA: Like a Broken Rose
So lately I've been watching (and re-watching) Nana. Or at least, after I read HP & the DH. But everyone and their mother has made a DH post, so I don't feel the need to write one of my own. If anyone's curious, I enjoyed the book, on the whole. I'm curious as to whether or not there'll be any differences between the American and the British editions. As luck would have it, my dad happened to be passing through England on the 21st (and I mean this literally - he had a connection through Heathrow) and picked up a copy for me. SO COOL! ^___^ He's still away on business, but I'm excited for it. ... ::can feel jeva_chan making zomg!hate faces:: I know, I'm spoiled. XD Sorry.
Anyways, Nana! I started watching this show and then the six-episode flashback made me want to scream, so I stopped watching it. A friend of mine, Danny, told me that the show was one of her favourites, though, so when I had some free time I figured I'd see if she was right about it getting better. And she was! XDD For those of you to whom it'll mean something, it made me cry. Actually, come to think of it, it made me cry a couple of times. Never on the level of Abyss or Fruits Basket, but somewhat more often then either, for what sense that makes. It's the sort of show that ought to be watched with a box of tissues. At least, for me. But then, I sympathize with Hachi, which makes that sort of thing a lot more likely. People who sympathize with Nana would likely cry less, I think. ::shrug::
Either way, it's got a very human feel to it, which is what I like about it. All of the characters, as much as they occasionally frequently do very very stupid things... they're doing the sort of stupid things that I can see myself doing / have done. Falling in love with the wrong person, thinking your in love when really you're not, saying precisely the wrong thing at the wrong time, getting yourself into a situation that looks awful even though it was completely innocent... Nana, for me, is a very honest anime.
So, there's this one scene in episode 24 or so that got stuck in my head and demanded ficlet. So there's ficlet.

Seriously though, everyone's works for this were awesome! My own fic was Goofy Foot for kirayukari, in which Echizen runs into Tezuka at the beach. I rather liked it. I *really* liked this picture of Sanada and Kirihara that sarahofcroydon drew for me. ^___^
And I am absolutely in love with the following fics.
vanillafire's World of Brothercraft - In which Fuji Shuusuke, Fuji Yuuta, and Mizuki all play World of Warcraft together. Because Shuusuke letting Mizuki die as a twisted sort of revenge is one of the greatest plot set-ups I've ever seen.
jain's Playing the Game - Because the world needs more well-written Hikago/Prince of Tennis crossovers. And in large part because of a very very brief Atobe cameo at the end that killed me.
takewing's One Hit KO - Because Sanada + Kirihara + Video Games is about eight bajillion different kinds of love.
And my favourite:
tokyostory's Stop Me If You've Heard This One Bef- oh. - Because I can't decide what I love the most about this piece. Because it convinced me to like Shishido, and because it made me want to hug Atobe and Oshitari. And because it had Voldemort, which just made it full of WIN.

You know, I seem to recall saying that I wouldn't get into this fandom. That I wouldn't write anything for it at least, that I would just stay on the fringes if I got into it at all. But then I was rewatching season one, and I had this idea, and I couldn't find it written anywhere else, and well maybe I should have been working on that Saiyuki fic I still need to re-do for the third time (my laptop hates me and broke down, and just when I had a second version almost done, it dumped its physical memory), but I couldn't get this idea out of my head.
Anyway, fic. I don't even have a title for this one. Feel free to make suggestions? Short bit, really.

This post exists mainly to show off the new icon I just made. XDD I have... umm... negative? skill at that sort of thing, but I really wanted an icon from that picture of Yuuko in chapter 120 of xXxHolic. It's right after the thing with the window and the deal and the yeah. Anyways, I tried making one myself, and I think I kind of like it.
Ummm... not a whole lot going on here. I've been spending most of my time lately applying to jobs and writing original fiction, which means that there hasn't been any fic to post. Sorry! ^.^;;; More coming soon, especially since my gen challenge fics are due in - oh - three days? XDDD
Also, have been playing Final Fantasy XII lately - my little brother got it for me for my birthday. ^_^ I'll admit, though - I just don't think it's as good as Tales of the Abyss. FFXII's not as bad as I'd heard, but it's certainly not great. Maybe that's just because I haven't played that long into it, but well - - I *like* politics and political intrigue, but even *I'm* bored with the way they've been going about things. The story feels more like it's telling you things rather than showing you them, and that's... not particularly well done. I'm finally getting better at the licensing system, though, so maybe it'll pick up.

So, a quick-ish note of explanation by way of apology, maybe? XD I've wanted to write TezuRyo for a while now, because I like the pairing - maybe not as much as I like them in a mentor-mentoree(?) relationship, but enough that I wanted to try it. I also wanted to try and write smut, because I've never really done that - not that I haven't written near smut (see Schiezka/Book, houseofsmex) - but I've never written real smut, and it was something I figured I ought to try at least once. And then someone (read: pillarchallenge) suggested that perhaps these two things ought to go together.

Just got caught up on Romeo x Juliet (I had watched the first episode previously) and felt the need to fangirl a bit. Especially Tybalt. He looks like Shannon from Scrapped Princess and sounds like Tezuka from Prince of Tennis - which of course had me going ♥_♥, even if I'm guessing that he's not precisely a good guy.
It reminds me of a fusion or a crossover between Robin Hood and Romeo & Juliet, actually, more than a remake of Romeo & Juliet proper. Does that mean that the makers of anime are increasingly fanfic writers? O_o Or maybe I'm just reading into things.
I'm also in love with Cielo, who has said nothing but been just the coolest pegasi ever. ^.^ Romeo rocks, too, and of course Juliet! ♥ So yeah. Not much happening here, just some joy. Anyone got other recent series to recommend while I'm catching up?

Just wanted to make sure everyone saw fandom_counts. It would be nice to show LJ how many of us are here, and how screwed they're likely to be if they start pulling crap on their loyal users. At the moment, there are 15,000+ members of the group. The group has no listed interests, so even if you're likely me and not particularly fond of incest or pedophilia in fiction, you can stand and be counted as a member of fandom. (lorely_lane in particular, I'm sure you'll be amused to note that this group was started by a member of the Supernatural fandom who's fond of Wincest. XD The things fandom comes up with...) For me, this is about tolerance, breach of contract, and the possibility of Livejournal screwing over something even more important down the line. Please join so we can show 6A and LJ how much they stand to lose if they try anything wonky again.

I think I'm going to wind up hurting myself playing Kingdom Hearts - - those stupid freaking mushrooms are about a nanometer away from driving me absolutely out of my mind. Although the Defenders are worse, mainly because they're hard to find, slow to beat, and drop items next to never. I still haven't gotten even a single Bright Crystal. Grrr...
In other news, sorry about the general lack of ficcage lately. I've got a story to write this weekend for tenifriends, but since I'm recently graduated, I'm a bit busy with job hunt / my mum's political campaign / trying to finish Kingdom Hearts to get much writing done. (In other news, MS Word is now officially my servant. I have keecked its arse six ways from Sunday and it obeys~!!) Fic will return eventually, when you least expect it. Bwahahaha.
ETA: FFN FINALLY GAVE TALES OF THE ABYSS ITS OWN SECTION! YESSSSSSS!!!!!!!!

I really almost thought that Prince of Tennis couldn't get any stranger. However... the preview for episode 11 of the OVA? They're apparently denying anime canon to use manga canon and tell that story about Tezuka in Kyuushu. ... what the heck? O_o I'm kinda curious, in an oh-my-god-that's-going-to-be-a-trainwreck sort of way. ^^;;;;
In other news, I'm three pages short of done on one of my papers and have run out of material. I'm so fucked. *_*
Also, I need to stop using "artes" instead of "arts." Clearly, too much Abyss for me.

10:16 am - HC Post-Reveal
het_challenge just finished up, which means I am now totally free to pimp both the fics I wrote and the fics that I got. Yay~!!! ^_^ For windsorblue, I wrote this incredibly depressing Royai fic. ponderosa121 prompted a somewhat cracktastic Haruhi/Tamaki/Kyouya bodyswitch fic. For nekokoban, I wrote angsty vampire not-quite-sex featuring Alice/Jirou from Black Blood Brothers. Ignoring the fact that I'm completely not a smut writer and that's the closest I've ever come, I was really happy with this fic. Finally, my pride and joy, for anime_angel_ash I wrote Tidus/Yuna fic where they try to steal Lulu's mog so Yuna can have a plushie. I had SO much fun writing that one, and I think it came out really well.
LINN!!! You need to go check out this Marcus/Ivanova fic that nightambre wrote for me. As does anyone else who likes B5, because it was fantastic. I also highly recommend the angsty pre-game Wakka/Lulu fic that rosehiptea wrote for me, which is similarly fantastic. Finally, for a bit of pretty, take a peek at the Royai dancing in uniforms pic that simargl_wings drew for me.
